OUR STORY
We get this question a lot: what does the name come from?
Our name is based on ‘Where the Wild Things Are’. The main character Max gets in trouble for being too wild, and gets sent to his room without dinner. He gets lost in his imagination, his room becomes a forest, and he turns into a Wolf King of the fantastical creatures that he befriends.
Only in our wildest imagination, did we want to completely gut-renovate our fixer-upper home into a cafe for our friends and neighbors – one that was welcoming, purposeful, showcased local art, and gave a little bit back to the community. In 2019 we committed & embraced the challenge. We couldn’t have done it without needing to be a little bit rebellious, and A LOT wolf-like.
Our story is not unique; we’re all a little bit like Max. Here at Rebel & Wolf, we welcome you, your imagination, and any fantastical creatures you might bring with you. We’ll have your food and coffee waiting for you, too.
We feel that imagination and nature are profoundly intertwined. 5% of profits go towards rotating local Philadelphia-based youth art programs. Another 5% goes towards environmental protection organizations in/around Philadelphia.
To be creative & wild are one and the same to us, as it should be for the next generations to come.
